Resize photo to 200 × 230 px
This page is set to 200 × 230 px, JPG and at most 50 KB. Drop your photo, drag the box to frame your face, and download. Check the numbers against your form's notice first.
Many Indian forms use 200.
Advanced: minimum size and file DPI
For forms that check the DPI of a JPG or PNG.
How to resize for a form
- Read the size in the notice. Note the width and height, the unit, and any KB limits. Type them here or tap a preset.
- Add your photo. Drag the box to choose what stays. A signature should use Fit inside so none of it is cut off.
- Check and download. The result shows its exact size and KB. For a PDF, use the image to PDF tool.
Pixels, cm and DPI explained
A photo file has no real size in cm. It has pixels, and DPI (dots per inch) says how many of them fit in one inch when printed. One inch is 2.54 cm, so:
pixels = cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI
- 3.5 cm at 200 DPI: 3.5 ÷ 2.54 × 200 = 276 px
- 4.5 cm at 200 DPI: 4.5 ÷ 2.54 × 200 = 354 px
- 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI: 413 × 531 px
So the same size in cm can mean different pixels. If a form gives a size in cm with no DPI, 200 is a common choice for Indian forms and 300 for print. If a form gives pixels, DPI doesn't change the size, though this tool still writes it into JPG and PNG files for forms that check it.
Frequently asked questions
Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Resizing runs inside your browser with its built-in image tools. Your photo is never sent to a server.
What DPI should I use?
Use the DPI the form states. Many Indian forms use 200 DPI, and print shops usually ask for 300 DPI. DPI only matters when a size is given in cm, mm or inches. For a size in pixels, the pixels are what count.
Why is my photo cropped?
Your photo and the size you asked for have different shapes, so Crop to fill trims the edges to avoid stretching. Drag the box in the preview to choose what stays, or switch to Fit inside to keep the whole photo with a background around it.
Can it make a small photo bigger?
Yes. The result has the exact size you asked for, and the tool tells you when it had to upscale. A photo made bigger can look soft, so use the original photo if you have it.
How do I meet both a pixel limit and a KB limit?
Set the size, then set Max file size. The tool resizes first, then finds the best quality under your limit. It never changes the pixels to fit. If it can't reach the limit, it says so, and you can lower the dimensions or raise the limit.
Why was blank padding added to my file?
Some forms set a minimum file size that a small image can't reach, even at top quality. When you set a minimum, the tool first raises the quality. If a JPG still falls short, it adds blank padding that viewers ignore, so the picture doesn't change. The result tells you when this happens.
Why do forms reject photos?
The usual reasons are the wrong format, the wrong dimensions, a file above the maximum or below the minimum size, and a coloured background. Check each one against the form's instructions before you upload.
