How images are stored in a PDF
A PDF page can hold a JPG almost as it is, plus a short instruction saying where to draw it. That makes image PDFs simple: nearly all the file size is the pictures, and only a few hundred bytes per page are PDF structure.
This is why a size limit works here. The tool sets aside room for that structure, then finds one JPG quality for all pages that fills what is left.
Have one image and want a quick single page? Use compress image to PDF. Need the exact pixel size first? Use the resize tool.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs inside your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so private documents stay private.
How does it stay under my size limit?
All pages share one quality level, so the document looks even. The tool finds the highest quality that fits. If the lowest quality is still too big, it shrinks every page by the same amount and tries again.
Can I change the page order?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows on each page, or drag a row on a computer. The PDF is rebuilt in the new order.
What is the difference between Fit and Fill?
Fit keeps the whole image on the page, with blank space if the shapes differ. Fill covers the whole page and trims whatever falls outside it.
When should I use lossless PNG?
Use it for screenshots and diagrams when you need every pixel kept and have no size limit. Files are larger, and photos are better left as JPG. It is turned off when you set a size limit.
Is it free?
Yes, with no watermark and no sign-up.
