DPI, pixels and points

PDF pages are measured in points, and 72 points make an inch. An A4 page is about 595 by 842 points. Choosing a DPI sets how many pixels each inch gets, so A4 at 150 DPI comes out at about 1240 by 1754 pixels.

Text and drawings stored in a PDF are redrawn sharply at any DPI. A scanned page is already a picture, so a DPI above the original scan makes a bigger file without adding detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so private documents stay private.

Which DPI should I choose?

150 DPI suits screens and most uploads. Choose 300 DPI for printing or small text. Higher DPI means larger images and larger files. Very large pages are capped at 4000 pixels on the long side, and the result says so.

How do I pick only some pages?

Tick the pages you want, or type them in the Pages box, such as 1-3,7. The odd and even buttons select those pages for you.

How do I save all the pages?

Choose Download as ZIP to get one file holding every image, or Download all to get them one at a time. Some browsers ask for permission to save several files.

Why won't my PDF open?

A password-protected PDF can't be read here, so remove the password first. A damaged file can't be read either, so try downloading it again.

Is it free?

Yes, with no watermark and no sign-up.
