Convert PNG to JPG
JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG, which helps with upload limits. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas turn white.
What is HEIC?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones use by default. It keeps good quality in a small file, but Windows, many apps and most online forms can't open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo work almost everywhere.
How to stop your iPhone shooting HEIC
Open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay as HEIC, so convert those here.
Your photos stay on your device
Conversion runs inside your browser. The first HEIC file loads a small converter, about 0.5 MB, and your photos are never sent anywhere. If your browser can already read HEIC, as Safari can, the converter isn't downloaded at all.
Need an exact size for a form? Convert first, then use the resize tool.
Frequently asked questions
Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Conversion runs inside your browser, and your photos are never sent to a server.
Why do I need to convert HEIC?
HEIC is the default iPhone photo format. It saves space, but Windows, many apps and most online forms can't open it. JPG works almost everywhere.
What happens with Live Photos and bursts?
A HEIC file can hold several images. The tool converts the main image and tells you when a file holds more than one. The motion in a Live Photo isn't kept.
Will my photo be the right way up?
Yes. The rotation stored in the photo is applied during conversion, so it looks the way it does on your phone.
Does converting lower the quality?
JPG and WebP use a high quality setting by default, so most people won't see a difference. PNG adds no further loss but makes larger files. If you set a size limit, the tool lowers quality as needed and shrinks the pixels only if it has to.
Why does the first conversion take longer?
The first HEIC file loads a small converter of about 0.5 MB. After that it stays in your browser, and later files are quicker.
