Compress image to 100 KB
100 KB is the most common limit for online application forms and website uploads. Drop your photo and get a file that is guaranteed to be 100 KB or smaller, with the best quality possible at that size.
Advanced: limit dimensions
Below this the tool shrinks pixels instead of quality.
How to compress image to 100 kb
- Set the limit. Type the size the form or site asks for, or tap a preset. If the instructions also give a maximum pixel size, open Advanced and set it. This limits the longest side and keeps the photo's shape, so for an exact size such as 200 × 230 px, use the resize tool.
- Add photos. Drop them on the page or tap to pick. On a phone, you can take a picture directly.
- Download. The tool shows the new size and dimensions for each file. Tap Download, or Download all for a batch.
How it keeps quality high
Most "compress to KB" tools pick one quality number and hope. This one measures. For each photo it searches for the highest JPEG or WebP quality that still fits under your limit, trying about eight encodes, which usually takes a second or two. Only if the lowest acceptable quality is still too large does it reduce the pixel dimensions, and then only by the small amount needed. The result is the sharpest image possible at the size you asked for.
Everything happens in your browser using its built-in image encoder, so there is no upload, no queue and no server storing your photos. It works on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Frequently asked questions
Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Compression runs inside your browser using its built-in image encoder. Nothing is sent to any server, which is why it works offline and why there is no file-size limit on our side.
How does it hit an exact size?
It searches for the highest JPEG/WebP quality that fits under your target, and if even the lowest quality is too big it scales the image down a little and tries again. The result is the best-looking image that is at or below the size you asked for.
Why did the dimensions change?
Some targets (for example 20 KB for a 12-megapixel photo) can't be reached by quality alone, so the tool reduces the pixel dimensions just enough to fit. You can set a maximum dimension yourself under Advanced.
Which formats are supported?
Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and anything else your browser can open. Output: JPG, PNG, WebP or a one-page PDF. HEIC photos from iPhone should be exported as JPG first.
Can I compress many photos at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you like; each is compressed to the same target and you can download them one by one or all together.
Is it free?
Yes, with no watermark, no sign-up and no limits.
